Ewww dirt

We had some landscaping done this past weekend and Henry was gripped. He is obsessed with all things dirty right now. He will spend the whole time at the park wiping the sand off of the equipment. He will stop in his tracks while on a walk to check the bottom of his feet for dirt. He says "Ewww dirt". The day that I took these photos, the first day the guys were out working on our lawn, Henry ran over to the window, his arm outstretched and his finger pointing and said "Mama.....DIRRRRRTEEEE".

I took the opportunity to capture a few photos of him when he was, for once, not squirming all over the place.

It was his idea

I don't mind

Transitioning to no night time bottle so far it hasn’t been too bad. Last night Henry was a little fussy when we put him down so I went in his room for a little rocking and snuggling. I held him on his side with this face about 6 inches from mine. I stroked his hair and patted his bottom and told him to close his eyes “night-night time baby”. His room was dark but I could tell that his eyes were open.

“Ray-ray?”

I propped his little stuffed cat named Ray-ray on my chest.

“Ray-ray blampy?”

He covered Ray-ray with one of his many blankets, rubbed his head and patted his bottom and said “Ray-ray nigh nigh.”

“Yes, Ray-ray and Henry go night-night. Close your eyes.” I whispered.

I closed my eyes. We rocked.

“Nigh-nigh Mama” he whispered. He leaned forward, put his hand on my cheek and gave me a kiss.

I opened my eyes. He was an inch from my nose, smiling.

“Bed?” He asked.

I laid him down in his bed, walked out of the room and decided that there is nothing on the planet like being a Mama and no sweeter little boy.

Eating dinner

Spots

Dirty feet and toes, big blue eyes and a round tummy. What more could you want?
PS I nibble on those toes even when they are dirty.

A little fuzzy but still funny

He put these on this morning and said "dades" (shades).

Not sick

Henry-boy is feeling better

Whipped

Gigi called this afternoon to tell me a Henry story. She and Henry were drawing pictures on the patio with the sidewalk chalk and she wrote Gigi heart Henry and said "Look Henry-Gigi loves Henry" and Henry stood up and gave her a kiss right on the lips. Good boy!

A giggle

I think it is safe to say that Henry is going to miss his Aunt Kelly when she moves next week.

Yup, definitely our child

This morning I went in to wake up Henry. I opened the curtains and softly said his name. By the time I got the curtains up on both windows and walked over to his bed he was smiling. He doesn't always smile first thing when we have to wake him up, sometimes he is a grump (that's like his Papa) and sometimes he is happy (that's his Mama-what can I say, I'm one of those annoying morning people).
Lately when I get him out of bed he wants to bring everything that is in bed with him out of the bed and the number of items he currently sleeps with is pretty impressive-four blankets (he yells blampy every time we pass by a blanket so the collection continues to grow) a very very large bunny named Bunbun, a Southern cat named Ray-Ray and occasionally his chochie (plastic train). So when I go to pick him up I have to wait for him to put all of his blankets in a pile, stack Ray-ray and Bunbunon top of the pile, pick it all up and waddle to the side of his crib- you can imagine that there is a lot of stuff between us, I basically have my hands right under his armpits with my arms outstretched with a mountain of fabric between us. This is especially funny at night when he wants to be rocked. He knows that he has four blankets so I will pick him up and he will say blampy (I grab one), blampy (grab another), blampy (are you kidding me?), blampy (we have got to hide one of these), Ray-Ray (ugh I am going to have to turn on the light), Bunbun (we are not all going to fit in the rocking chair). ----But I got off track-this morning, time to wake up, he smiles and starts to put all of his goodies into a pile, I prepare for the load and then he turns and belly flops into bed, stretching his arms and legs out as far as he can. In his green blanky sleeper that is just slightly too small for him he looks like a starfish. He sighs and says "ahhh, bed". Now that is our kid.

Bingerberries

This is our favorite way to eat raspberries, we call the fingerberries, or if you're a 19 month old boy named Henry, bingerberries.

Being together

GramaAlex is coming to visit tomorrow. It has been about a year since her last visit. We are all very excited to spend the week with her.

Happy 4th

We didn't do much in the way of fireworks this 4th. Henry was in bed long before dark, but we did take a moment in between the storms to try some poppers. Here he is taking a little instruction from Papa.

Summer time

Learning to drink out of the hose.

Helping around the house

Henry helped me load the dishwasher this morning. I rinsed off the dishes and he put them in the proper place.

Catching up

So, we have a little catching up to do here. These are pictures from fathers day. I took a ton of pictures of the guys together and very few of them actually came out. This is the best of the bunch. Henry and Papa working on a bubble making machine.
Papa having his morning coffee while Henry waters the um....flowers?
More flower watering I think on this shot he actually did get a flower but it isn't in the photo.

Marking his territory?

So what you are seeing here is my son at his very best. Step one: get nude, find Mama's garden hat (which looks strikingly similar to Gramalex's on her blog photo) and plop it snuggly on your dome. Step two: find a good spot (preferably Bapa's shoes) and watch yourself pee. Step three: walk into your own pee puddle and wiggle your toes in it. Step four: become very pleased with yourself and grin widely. Step five: hear Bapa tell you "no no Henry, no no potty" and back into the corner to ask yourself what you've done. Step six: go into the bathroom and sit down on the potty waaaaaay too late. Step seven: get a hug and an "I love you baby bear" from Bapa and get into your jammies for bed. -W

Good eater?

Moving has presented an interesting challenge with Henry. All of the things that we kept in cabinets and drawers or just up out of his reach are now at Henry level, prefect for little hands to explore. The boxes with bathroom items have been Henry’s favorite discovery. And they continue to sit on the floor because we haven’t yet tackled the issue of our small bathroom vs. Mama’s million lotions, bath gels, hair ties, nail polishes, half empty shampoo bottles and other goodies. Henry’s favorite find, the one he keeps coming back to, is deodorant. He has been interested in deodorant since he first watched Papa put it on at our old place. Wade would put it on himself and then put the lid on and pretend to put it on Henry. It is one of the few things he will stand still to do, over and over again. He calls it deodoree. He likes to smell it and then try to taste it. But, his version of smelling is more like blowing his nose on the deodorant and then breathing in and out several times. Last night he was a man obsessed. He kept yelling for the deoderee and then “smelling” it, sticking it in my face to smell as a diversion while he licked his lips for any bits that may have fallen off. One time he stuck the deodorant in my face and told me to smell and he was so forceful that he stuck my nose in the deodorant. When he realized that I had it all over my nose he leaned over and stuck his mouth on my nose. “Ick” I said. He said “mmm….deodoree…” and licked his lips.

P.S. He likes the taste of soap and shampoo also.

As promised

Henry and his best friend, Miss Bagel.

Sunshine Sunday

We still haven't found our cameras or set up our computers but a camera phone works almost as well. This is Henry playing in his yard Sunday morning.

All that Glitters

With the help of our amazing friends and family we are officially moved into our new house. The phrase "It takes a village" is no exaggeration when it comes to moving with an 18 month old and we still have the adventure of unpacking everything we own while managing a toddler which has already proven to be quite a challenge-- "Thank you Henry for picking up that knife set I left in the living room. Please stop rubbing the deodorant into the carpet..."--- but I keep telling Wade (and myself) that there are a lot of people out there that would take the stresses we have been dealing with if it meant owning their own home so we should be grateful that we are even able to do this. As for the Bean, well, he loves his new house. He hasn't really had any trouble adjusting. He has slept fine, eaten well and seems relatively unfazed by the change of venue. I asked him yesterday if he missed our old apartment but he was too busying running through Papa's office, into the garage, onto the driveway, around the Vroom Vroom, through the yard, into the side door and back into Papa's office....over and over again. If it would stop raining he would get a taste of the real deal back yard that sold us on the house. Cheers to grass and no more huge forehead bonks on the cement parking lot!
We will post some pictures as soon as we find our cameras, computers and desks..... -L
