Signs of summer

Light weight jammies
Blowing on dandelions (with a root beer float mustache)

Pancake

Sunday is pancake day. Wade makes his famous multi-grain pancakes and he can make them into the first letter of your name or, if you ask nicely, he will make them into animals or cars...you name it (we knew that art degree would pay off ;) ). This morning Henry devoured his Henry H and his bunny AND 3 regular size pancakes. He loves pancakes. He asks for them every morning and will eat them until the batter runs out.
Today Henry and Wade were in the check out line at the store and a crying 2 year old passed by in a cart. Henry watched him very closely. Wade noticed and said "He is very upset, isn't he?" "Yes Bapa" Henry said, "He wants pancakes."

Heavy

Today I dropped Wade off downtown to pick up the pizza. There was no where to park so Henry and I drove around the block.

"What we doing Mama?"
"We are driving around the block so that Papa can get the pizza. There was no where to park so I am going to drive around the block and then I will pick him up."
"NO MAMA NO. You not pick him up. He too big. He way too big for you to pick up."

A tender moment between a mother and her child

Rocking before bed. Henry snuggles into Mama's lap. Mama leans over and gives Henry a kiss on the check. "I love you sweet baby." Henry wiggles up, puts his hands on either side of Mama's face and whispers, "I love Papa."

Faces

Glad face
Mad face
Happy face
Fishy face
Sad face

Messy face *all of the above

Pickle Handles

Henry prefers the pickles with handles. Didn't know they had handles? Me either. I always thought it was just the stem.

Mow Mow

Henry watched Wade mow the lawn yesterday very closely and then decided to do a little mowing himself. After he filled up the gas tank he had a little trouble getting it started, but eventually got it going. I love watching his imagination at work. At the begining of the video, when he is talking to me, he is telling me that he has his mow-mow shoes on. (Sorry there is no sound).

AIDS Walk

We did the Douglas County AIDS walk this morning. It was cold and by the end of the walk it was snowing. Henry did really well. He said "We are walking for people that don't feel good. This help them feel better Mama."
At the breakfast/awards ceremony afterwords Henry's name was announced for being the youngest walker. He loved the clapping and continued to clap long after everyone else was finished.
Thank you to Gigi, Grandpa and Aunt Kelly for doing the AIDS walk with us. And thank you to Aunt Annie and Uncle Sergio for donating to our team. The Douglas County AIDS walk raised over $16,000.

A happy accident

We left our flower pot full of sidewalk chalk out in the rain this week and discovered that soaking wet chalk is actually way more fun then dry chalk. It acts more like paint and is very messy, so Henry loved it.

This picture was really dark so you can't really see that he has blue chalk on the tip of his nose and cheek. You will just have to trust me, a major league mess was enjoyed by all.

Watching for the train

This is one of those moments when I remember how happy I am that we bought this house. Henry loves to watch the trains and even though we are several blocks from the track even just a glimpse of one is enough to keep him up on our fence on his tip toes the whole time it passes. It is also a moment that reminds me that my little baby isn't really a baby anymore.

A lesson for Mama

This morning I came out of the shower and found Henry rolling around in my bed with no pants on. This happens a lot in our house. I think Wade and I both feel bad for him in the mornings, after a full 12 hours in a diaper, so we let his back side get a little air whenever we can. This is what happened next.

"Hey....Is that a bare bottom?"

"No Mama, that not bear bottom. That Henme's bottom, I am a boy not a bear. We are people, all people have bottoms. I see you bottom Mama?" He leans over "Whoa! That a big bottom!"

Letters

Henry has been very interested in words and letters lately. Reading stories has become even more challenging because he wants us to point at every word as we read it. But it is so great to watch him learn. Amazing. Yesterday we were outside and Henry said "Yook Mama, I make Henme's H and O for Olive (his friend)." And sure enough, he did...

Just a man and his tools
