Lil' Froggy

Sometimes you have to just ease into "night night" time I guess. Which sometimes involves sitting on the floor with Papa, chewing on the head of a toy skeleton in your frog-green jammies.

Don't forget, you can click on any photos to make them larger!

I thought this picture would be a good one to post for a few reasons. 1. He is in his Reebok track suit and that is very cute. 2. He loves to suck/chew on the head of his bathtub toy sea turtle and that is cute. 3. You can see his toes and they are cute. 4. If you look hard, you can see his big sister Girlfriend the cat observing him from a safe distance and she is cute.

Guess what? The Bean loves raviolli.

Here is a picture called "Related" because Henry and I both have our "horns out" as my Mom used to say. We are both frowning with the same heavy browline. When I shaved my beard Henry had to touch my face for a few minutes before he got used the fact that it was really me. I think he misses not having a place to hold on when the road gets bumpy.

Here is a photo of Henry and I called "go to sleep bear" because I am trying desperately to get him to take a nap without putting him in the car to drive around until he conks out. Speaking of conks, check out the bruise on his forehead. That is what happens when someone who just learned to walk decides to start running.

Friday we all went to the pumpkin patch and picked out our "punkins" and gourds to put around the house. The next few post are pictures of the outing. Henry had an absolute blast. He has had a cold and he fell asleep on the way to the patch and on the way home from the patch, but while we were there he was all about it. He really liked the hay bail ride on a trailor pulled behind a tractor. We got up front so he could watch the wheels of the tractor kick up dirt. We even got a little in our teeth. Henry also loved guarding the punkins we picked out. He would squeal and pound on them. Mama is a master punkin selector. We got 4 really beautiful ones; a traditional orange one, a dark green one, a white one, and a watermellon-looking squatty one. Henry can walk pretty well now, but there's walking and then there's walking in a punkin patch. He took one spill and ended up face down in the dirt, but he didn't even cry. We may try to go back again this year with Grampa Heiman just for the heck of it because it was so fun. Wish you all could be with us. -W

Running out of steam

Henry has gotten his first cold. He is still just as busy during the day but has had a hard time taking naps and sleeping at night because he can't breath out of his nose. We went to the doctor yesterday and he checked out great-no ear infection, no sore thoat, just a little cold and some serious teething. Last night he was able to get a good nights rest with the help of some cold medicine and tylenol. We are hoping for another night like that tonight.
This is a picture from this afternoon, we were running errands and Henry was looking at a book in the back seat and crashed. Books have become one of Henry's favorite things. He loved being read to, turning the pages, chewing on the pages (of his board books), pushing the books on the floor, and looking at the pictures (even upside down) :)

Henry was pretty tired tonight, we rode our bikes to the store to get a gift for cousin Campbell's 1st birthday this Saturday. But he had just enough energy to enjoy his bath.

Here are some recent photos of Henry from the past couple of weeks. Henry's Godparents and our good friends, Jason and Mandy are coming into town this weekend. We are all looking forward to their visit. We'll be sure to post some photos from their visit. Have a great weekend.

Henry walks!

Hey everyone, Henry took two steps on his own this evening! So awesome. Here are some new photos from the last couple days. He went to his cousin Elliot's 1st birthday party last weekend in Kansas City and decided he liked to push a baby shopping cart on his own. So of course with lightning speed Grandma Gigi and Mama raided Babys-R-Us on the way home and returned with a little walker thingy for Henry. I call it a "walkadoodle". He absolutely loves it. He took to it immediately and has gotten really good at it. Almost too good actually because he keeps trying to just take off running. This afternoon he actually lifted it up in the air while standing and spun around while he was holding it as if it was still somehow supporting him even though he was carrying it. Funny how the brain works. He also loves to say "uh-oh" right before he throws something out of the bath tub or his crib and onto the floor. It's pretty cute. As you can see in the pictures, he also likes doors, phones, and pretending to drive the van. -W

We went to the Band Day parade this afternoon. There were over 30 bands marching. Henry's reaction varied from intensely focused to pretty uninterested, but overall he seemed to have a good time. In one of the pictures he is eating peaches off of a toothpick. That is his new favorite thing. More later....-L

Here is a picture of Henry getting his bedtime story last night and one of him brushing his teeth this morning.

Henry checking out the traffic on Mass Street. This is serious business :)

Another beautiful day in Kansas! This morning we headed out to the bike trails on the north side of town. On the way we stopped at the downtown bagel shop for some breakfast. Henry nawed on a bagel and watched the cars drive by, one of his favorite things to do. After the snack we went over the river and rode on the trails down along the levee. It was a perfect morning for a bike ride, warm in the sun but with a cool breeze. Monarch butterflies are migrating right now and Lawrence is on their migration route. We saw many moving along the river, it was beautiful. Here are a couple of photos from our outing this morning. Henry looks pretty serious in the pictures, but that is because he is focused on the cars driving by and his no time for Mama and her camera, trust me he really enjoyed the ride.

Several people have asked how to leave comments. As far as I can tell you have to have your own blog to be able to log in and leave a comment (sorry!) but you can always send your comments to one or both of our email addresses. -L

I was just thinking this morning that I should post Henry's stats from his most recent doctors visit. His 9 month appointment was last Friday.

Weight: 20 lbs 11 oz (55 percentile)
Height: 29 inches (85 percentile)

South Park is just a couple of blocks away from our house and is one of Henry's favorite places to play. He has been there every day this weekend. This time Henry's favorite play-mate, Papa, got to come along . First we took a ride on the swings and then Papa and Henry went for the big slides and then it was time to sit for a while and watch the big kids play. Now Henry is taking a nap with his windows open. After that it will be lunch and maybe a another visit with Aunt Lilly. -L

We have had a busy day today. First we all slept in until 8:30, which was very nice. Then we went out for a walk downtown. Henry loves to watch the cars drive by on Massachusetts Street. After that it was time for a nap and then some lunch. He has been working on learning to feed himself, which is quite a messy task-these are some before and after pictures. Right now he has decided to skip his afternoon nap (which will make for an interesting evening) and instead play with Papa and his guitar. Henry's Aunt Lilly is in town visiting this weekend so she might come over this evening for some burgers on the grill. That's all we've got for now. -L

Henry and Papa reading a story this morning.

This was Henry's birth announcement which we never sent to anyone....we were in a "I have a newborn haze" and didn't get much of anything done. Does anyone want one? It seems silly to send them out so late, but if you want a copy send me an email and I will mail you one.

Henry has been sleeping from 8:30 pm to 7:30 am the past few nights, we are hoping this new trend will stick, although it could just be a break in teething. His two top teeth popped in a couple of weeks ago making him a four chomper guy. He is still not sure about eating chunky foods but we’re working on that everyday. He loves looking at books, crawling, rolling around in his bed, playing peek-a-boo, stacking cups, and putting blocks into Tupperware. He did take a few steps on his own yesterday but then quickly plopped down, I think he just needs a little more confidence and he will be on the move. And, he has become a speed crawler so walking doesn’t quite hold his interest like it used to.

Have a good long weekend.
